[ARCHIVED] state’s Pesticide Control Regulations

The Cape May County Department of Mosquito Control operates under the State’s Pesticide Control Regulations (New Jersey Administrative Code Title 7 Chapter 30, Subchapters 1-13) effective November 29, 2001 and re-adopted in 2008. The regulations are extensive as they affect our control program especially with regards to notification and surveillance.

The revised regulations have resulted in a slowdown of our response time to your adult mosquito problems. Data from our increased surveillance efforts must be tabulated before a decision to spray can be made. The Mosquito Department is required to post spray information on our website and telephone hot line 609-465-9038. Additionally, we must call all those requesting notification a minimum of 12 hours in advance of any adult mosquito spray application. Weather and wind conditions must also be considered prior to initiating a spray application. If conditions are not favorable the whole surveillance and notification process must be repeated.
