[ARCHIVED] Marcolongo Appointed to Judiciary-Surrogates Liaison Committee


Cape May Court House, NJ – The New Jersey Supreme Court recently appointed Cape May County Surrogate Dean Marcolongo to serve on the Judiciary-Surrogate Liaison Committee.   Marcolongo was recommended for service on the committee by Surrogate Michelle Gentek-Mayer, Chief of the Surrogates Section of the Constitutional Officers Association of New Jersey.  His three year term will be effective immediately, ending December 31, 2021.  

The Supreme Court created the Judiciary-Surrogates Liaison Committee in 1983 to provide a forum for the discussion of concerns affecting the Judiciary and Surrogates.  The Liaison Committee plays a critical role in addressing areas mutual concern and pursuing collaborative approaches to resolving issues and developing standardized practices and procedures as part of the goal of providing quality services to the people of New Jersey.  Over the years, the Liaison Committee had addressed many important subjects, including enhancing the role of the Surrogates, guardianship practices and improving the Surrogates Intermingled Trust Fund.

Surrogate Marcolongo was elected and sworn in as Cape May County Surrogate in 2017. He is a lifelong resident of Cape May County.  He is a graduate of Richard Stockton College and from Vermont Law School.  Dean is an active member of The Constitutional Officers Association of New Jersey (COANJ) and serves as Treasurer of the organization.  He also serves as Deputy Section Chief for the Surrogates.
