[ARCHIVED] Parts of Fulling Mill Road (CR654) to be Milled and Paved Beginning July 26


As part of Cape May County’s 2017 Maintenance Paving Contract, South State, Inc. of Bridgeton, NJ, plans to mill and pave sections of Fulling Mill Road (County Road No. 654) next week. During the construction working hours, 6:00am to 6:00pm, Fulling Mill Road will be closed to through traffic from Bayshore Road to NJ Route 47. Local traffic will be permitted, however they need to enter Fulling Mill Road from the intersection closest to their destination.

The paving is expected to begin at 6am on Wednesday July 26th and be substantially completed by noon on Friday July 28th, including the installation of the centerline stripes. Deteriorated sections of the roadway will be milled and paved from just east of Centennial Drive in Rio Grande and extending to just east of Garfield Avenue in the Villas.

During the daily closure, westbound Fulling Mill Road traffic will be detoured to either north to Bayshore Road at the NJ Route 47 intersection in Del Haven or south to Railroad Avenue at the intersection with NJ Route 47 and then south to Breakwater Road. Eastbound Fulling Mill Road will be redirected to either north on Bayshore Road to NJ Route 47 or south to Fishing Creek Road, Breakwater Road and then Seashore Road/Railroad Avenue to NJ Route 47.

Fulling Mill Road will be open each night after construction working hours, however motorists are cautioned that there will be no centerline striping until Friday. Motorists are advised to avoid the area, and if not, to use caution when traveling through the construction zone.

Variable message signs advising motorists of the pending paving work were placed on Thursday July 20th.

This schedule is subject to change and is dependent upon having good weather.

This work is part of the County’s $2,180,000 construction contract awarded by the Cape May County Board of Chosen Freeholders to South State, Inc. on May 23, 2017 The milling and paving operations are being overseen by Gibson Associates, P.A., Ocean View, NJ.
