Cape May County Veterans’ Bureau Soliciting Donations to Purchase Items for Hospitalized Veterans
RIO GRANDE, NJ – The Cape May County Veterans’ Bureau is working with local Veterans organization to collect funds to purchase items needed for hospitalized and institutionalized veterans in need. The annual trip to the Vineland Memorial Home and Haven South in Ancora is schedule for March 16, this year. The program has been in operation since 1984, and focuses on helping veterans in need and showing them care and respect for their service to the country. The Veterans Bureau group have been visiting the Vineland Memorial Home since 1984, and added Haven South a few years ago.
The donations will be used for the purchase items for Veterans hospitalized in the Vineland Memorial Home in Vineland. A portion of the funds collected will also be used for the reintegration training of veterans in Haven South, located in Winslow Township.
Freeholder Jeffrey Pierson said, “Last year we were able to raise $2,500 for each location, our goal is to match that for 2017. The veterans are extremely grateful and the funds go a long way in providing them with much needed assistance.”
Donations in any amount help to make this program successful. Checks can be made payable to VFW District 17 Valentine Account, and mailed to Cape May County Veterans’ Bureau, 4005 Route 9 South, Rio Grande, NJ 08242-1911.
