Sign Up Now for Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Cape May County Family and Community Health Sciences’ Workshop, Short on time...Learn how to make Quick, Healthy Meals and Snacks

Cape May Court House - Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Cape May County Family and Community Health Sciences (FCHS) will offer the workshop Short on time…Learn how to make Quick, Healthy Meals and Snacks, part of the on-going 2017 wellness series, on Wednesday, March 8 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Rutgers Cooperative Extension, 355 Court House – South Dennis Road, Cape May Court House, New Jersey.

Participants will learn ten tips to help build a healthy meal, how to stock their pantry, how to make healthy selections when dining out, and why and how to increase daily physical activity.

Marilou Rochford, FCHS Educator, said, “There are some tips that can help you eat healthy when you are in a rush. They include stocking your pantry or freezer with whole wheat pasta or rice, cans of no-salt added crushed tomatoes, spices, garlic, frozen chicken breasts, canned fish, and frozen vegetables. Also, plan to use leftovers from one meal, such as cooked vegetables and meats, in a new and easy recipe for the next night. Plus, save time in the kitchen by using a slow cooker to make two or three healthy suppers at once.”

A slow cooker meal will be demonstrated and served to participants for dinner during the workshop. The cost of the workshop is $15 and advanced registration is required. Space is limited, so, please reserve your place early. Call Marian at (609) 465-5115, ext. 609 or email marian.courtney@co.cape-may.nj.us for more information or to register for the program.
