The mouthwatering smell of BBQ chicken is in the air starting on Thursday, July 21, so make sure you arrive hungry.

The popular tradition, sponsored by the Cape May County Board of Agriculture for decades, features delicious BBQ chicken, farm fresh vegetables, chips, cranberry sauce, roll and butter, beverage and desert. Additionally, Friday night features fresh flounder.

The dinner is served by volunteers and local dignitaries. Tickets are available on the Fairgrounds from 4 pm on in the Chicken BBQ Ticket Booth. $12.50 adults; children (12 and under) $7. Take-out is also available.

If You Go: Tickets for the chicken BBQ will be sold at the Cape May County 4-H fair July 21 – 23 starting at 4 pm and dinner will start being served at 5 pm.

Don’t forget the fair: The annual 4-H fair runs July 21 – 23 at the 4-H fairgrounds located at 355 Court House – South Dennis Road in Cape May Court House. Public hours for the fair are noon to 9 pm Thursday and Friday and 10 am to 10 pm on Saturday. Admission is free and there is a host of fun events Thursday through Saturday.

Parking is available for free at the Crest Haven Complex with free shuttle bus service to the fairgrounds starting at noon from the Cape May County Technical High School on Thursday and Friday and 10 am on Saturday. Buses are comfortable, air-conditioned and fully handicapped accessible. Look for parking signs at exit 11 East off the Garden State Parkway.

Limited premium parking is available at the Atlantic Cape Community College campus, located next door to the fairgrounds, for a suggested $5 donation.
