Get Ready for Spring! Rutgers Cooperative Extension Agricultural and Resource Management Division is offering the next class in its "Gardening by the Seasons" workshops entitled, "Seed Starting 101" in March. This installment will take place on Monday, March 7th from 5:30 to 8p.m. at Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Cape May County, 355 Courthouse-South Dennis Road, Cape May Court House, New Jersey. (Turn at the light at ACCC, it is the first building on the right). The building is handicap accessible.
The class will be taught by Jennifer Sawyer, Rutgers Master Gardener Coordinator for Cape May County. The basics of seed starting will be covered: selecting what seeds to start and when; how to select equipment; and seedling care. A hands-on portion will enable participants to start their own seeds to take home. A special section demonstrating how to build a portable grow light will be given by Rutgers Master Gardeners Jerry McManus and Brenda Church.
Beginners are welcome! Participants are encouraged to bring their own seeds. Dinner will be served starting at 5:30p.m. and the class will follow at 6p.m. No prior experience is required. The fee for the class is $20 per person and pre-registration is required.
