[ARCHIVED] Cape May County to Host Memorial Day Ceremony

The Cape May County Board of County Commissioners will host a Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 30 at 2 P.M. at the Gerald M. Thornton Veterans' Cemetery. The public is invited to attend and pay their respects to the men and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice for the United States while serving their Country.

“We invite the public to come and honor the true meaning of Memorial Day,” said Pierson. “We have been extremely lucky to have the freedoms that we are afforded in the United States, and it is thanks to the men and women who have served this Country proudly over the centuries.”

Invited speakers at this year’s event include Cape May County Commissioner Director Gerald M. Thornton, Congressman Jeff Van Drew, State Senator Michael Testa, Assemblyman Erik Simonsen, Captain Sarah “Kathy” Felger, Commanding Officer, United States Coast Guard Training Center, Cape May. Cape May County Commissioner Jeffrey Pierson will serve as the Master of Ceremonies.

“It is great to see every year the crowds that show up to support our Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day remembrances,” said Thornton. “It shows that Cape May County remembers and supports our service members.”
