[ARCHIVED] Rutgers Cooperative Extension of CMC To Hold Parenting Again Program for Grandparents

Rutgers Cooperative Extension Family and Community Health Sciences will hold an information session titled, “Parenting Again” for the Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Support Group in February. The free program will take place on Thursday, February 25, 2016 from 5:30 to 7p.m. at Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Cape May County, 355 Courthouse-South Dennis Road, Cape May Court House, New Jersey. (Turn at the light at ACCC, it is the first building on the right). The building is handicap accessible.

The “Parenting Again” program will cover a variety of topics for Grandparents including: How to adjust to your new role, Taking care of you, Reducing stress in your life, Personal relationship changes, Family relationships, Challenges with your adult child, Your troubled grandchild, Love and limits, and Forgiveness. Marilou Rochford, FCHS Educator, said, “The goal of the program is to give grandparents raising their grandchildren an opportunity to share concerns and to learn positive ways to care for their families as well as themselves.”

Childcare will be provided for the grandchildren. A light supper for the grandparents and grandchildren begins promptly at 5:30p.m. and the program will follow at 6p.m. There is no charge for this program, however, advanced registration is required. Please call Marian at (609) 465-5115, ext. “609” to register by February 19th, or for more information.

Also, Grandparents Raising Grandchildren are reminded to come to the first Coffee Friday of the year on February 26, 2016 from 10:30 to 11:30a.m. at Rutgers Cooperative Extension. Grandparents are invited to come learn about some of the resources and support available to them and also share their thoughts and concerns. There is no charge for this program.
