Cape May County Freeholder Will Morey and the Cape May County Public Works Association hosted the annual Snow Plow Rodeo and Equipment Show on October 20th at the Cape May County Airport in Erma, NJ. There were sixty-four trucks in this year’s event representing 11 different entities including Cape May County departments, local municipalities and other agencies.
The main objective of the rodeo and equipment show is to promote safety, constructive competition and training opportunities for public works crews and allied agencies while preparing equipment and operators for the upcoming winter storm season. Also, vendors displayed the latest equipment and tools used by public works departments throughout the county. The vendors included Rodio Tractor Sales, Garden State Highway Products, Hunter Jersey Peterbilt, John Deere and De Hart &Son.
Teams competed in three different categories; Class A - vehicles 15,000 pounds and under, Class B – vehicles between 15,000 and 26,000 pounds and Class C – vehicles 26,000 pounds and over.

Class B – Cape May County Road Department – Joe Brewster and Mike Notch
Class C – Wildwood Crest – Nick Blasi and Ira Smith
Class A – Ocean City – Russ Lindsay and Mike Hood
Class B - Cape May County Facilities and Services – Rick Neill and Lonnie Creamer
Class C - Stone Harbor – Dominick Grassi and Ray Allen
Class A – Cape May County Facilities and Services – Thomas Thompson and Tony Verity
Class B – Wildwood Crest – Ira Smith and Ryan Mullen
Class C – Middle Township – George Spaulding and Leroy Jones
The Officers of the Public Works Association are: President, Harry Wozunk, North Wildwood, Vice President Donna Fredericks, West Wildwood, and Secretary Dale Foster, Director of Cape May County Public Works. President Wozunk said, “The men and women look forward to the rodeo each year which gives them an opportunity to show their skills and earn recognition for their departments as well.”
