Take your seat - the curtain is going up on the Jersey’s Cape’s diverse, eclectic artistic offerings and cultural pursuits, seasoned professional performers, musicians and artists that are sure to prompt long applause and a standing ovation!

Catch a play at Cape May Stage, a professional Equity theater in a small, intimate setting. East Lynne Theater Company, another Cape May Equity theater, produces plays of American heritage as well as works of and by American literary figures.

The Ocean City Theater Company presents a range of popular productions, including children's theater that is sure to please every member of the family.  Local theater keeps the excitement of the Arts on the Jersey Cape alive and well.  Film festivals are a more recent addition to a growing, year-round arts calendar.

Buy a piece of art that inspires. Outdoor art shows along boardwalk, promenades and tree-lined paths at historic sites show case talent that often gets motivation from local sunsets, beach scenes and maritime vistas.

Want to find a gift with a history? Antique shops, flea markets, second-hand stores and consignment shops are everywhere, with a concentration of about 60 shops along the Route 9 corridor that runs the length of the County from Cape May to Ocean City. Most are listed in a brochure available from the Department of Tourism or on their website, www.thejerseycape.com.

Shipping containers as art? It’s the latest in recycling at Morey's Adventure Pier on the Boardwalk in Wildwood, a 10,000 square foot interactive artists’ colony with visual and musical art. The 11 brightly colored, repurposed shipping containers house studios where guests can watch handpicked regional artists at work, browse the paintings and enjoy the handmade crafts. How neat is that! It certainly adds a whole new dimension to creativity.

Ready for some music? Ocean City is the only resort with its very own Pops orchestra - and a wonderful one it is! - that performs a diverse summer concert series that ranges from Bach to Broadway at the historic Music Pier on the Boardwalk at Moorlyn Terrace. Beginning Memorial Day, the Cape May Music Festival plays host to six weeks of pure enjoyment with three weeks of world class orchestral and chamber music, jazz, a brass band, Irish music and Bach lunches. The City of Cape May also becomes the center of the Jazz universe twice a year highlighting the genres’ top musicians and legendary entertainers at the Exit O International Jazz Festival.

Performances by the John Walters Community Band, Masterworks Choir and the Sweet Adeline's are just a few groups that feature adult and children's performances that will get your feet tapping and a song in your heart for the remainder of your visit.

In July and August, most of the Jersey Cape seaside resorts sponsor an abundance of summer concerts, most of them free, outside, under the stars and with the ocean and sunset as a backdrop. Amphitheaters and band shells are great outdoor venues that always have something on tap to keep visitors entertained.

Sit on the sand, spread out a blanket or grab a beach chair and enjoy. Outdoor art shows along Boardwalks, promenades and tree-lined paths at historic sites showcase talent that often gets inspiration from local scenes.
