Public Health Nursing Division

The Cape May County Public Health Nursing Division provides high quality, comprehensive, cost effective health care to all residents of Cape May County, regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, or ability to pay.

The Nursing Division practices preventive health care by providing health education, screening for early detection of illness and early immunizations.

Our nursing staff strives to educate and empower clients, care givers and the community, enabling them to make informed health care decisions.

Programs


Special Child Health Services

This program helps families meet the needs of their children and assist in accessing community resources. Services are available to any family with a child from birth to 21 years of age who is diagnosed with or later develops a condition that can impact upon development, learning, or physical disability. These services are offered at no cost to families.


​ Developmental Assessment
The Regional Early Intervention Collaboratives will assist you in obtaining a developmental assessment for your child and help you access services and community resources.

Child Health Conference (Well Baby Clinic)


This clinic provides immunizations, education, screenings, and child development information.

New Jersey Cancer Education & Early Detection Program (NJCEED)

The Cancer Education and Early Detection Program provides free cancer screening for men and women who have no health insurance coverage nor Medicare nor Medicaid, who also have some income limitations.

Screening tests provided:
  • Blood test for PSA and prostate exam by a urologist
  • Breast exam and mammogram
  • Pelvic exam and PAP test
  • Stool test for colorectal cancer
Most follow up tests for abnormal results found on these initial screening tests are also paid for by this grant program utilizing funds from CDC, Breast Cancer Initiative, and the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services. New Jersey Office of Cancer Control & Prevention
The New Jersey Office of Cancer Control and Prevention is a comprehensive source for cancer resources available in Cape May County and New Jersey as well as on a national level. Updates on events such as survivorship conferences are made on continuing bases. New developments in cancer services are lists and updated regularly.
