Finest Beach
North Wildwood has long enjoyed the reputation of being one of the finest beach resorts along the New Jersey coast. In the early 1600's, the Lenni Lenape Indians visited this area each summer to fish, relax and cool off on these beaches.
Fishing
By 1870 a small group of Swedish fisherman had discovered the beauty of the area and the bounty of the sea, and built homes on the northern end of the island. They named their settlement Anglesea. Today this tiny quaint fishing village has grown into a beautiful and exciting island resort, still beckoning visitors to return each summer to fish, relax and cool off on their beaches.
Hereford Inlet Lighthouse
The newly restored Hereford Inlet Lighthouse is the pride of the residents of North Wildwood. Built in 1874, this quaint Victorian structure is considered one of the most attractive and unusual lighthouses in New Jersey.
