On September 11, 2014, Cape May County held its 13th Annual Patriot's Day Memorial Ceremony. Representing the Cape May County community were the Board of Chosen Freeholders, Cadets from the Cape May County Police Academy, local area first responders, local clergy, members of the US Coast Guard, NJ state officials, county employees and members of the public.
The day began at 8:46 a.m., the time when the first World Trade Center tower was attacked, with the lowering of the flags to half staff at many county locations. A memorial ceremony was then held at 5 p.m.
