Directions

Take Garden State Parkway Exit 11.  If southbound, proceed approximately 120 feet east on Crest Haven Road to Moore Road, left at Moore Road.  If northbound, proceed through the light onto Moore Road.  Moore Road will dead end at the Cape May County Animal Shelter and Adoption Center. (For GPS use 4 Moore Road which is the County Administration Building.  Proceed past the Administration Building, continuing on Moore Road as directed above.)

Due to COVID restrictions the facility is NOT open to the public without an appointment. To obtain a voucher for Spay/Neuter or conduct business other than adoption please call the Shelter at 609-465-8923.  The facility is staffed seven days a week, 9:00am to 4:00pm.

Special needs is defined as: any animal over ten years estimated age or requiring life sustaining medication or disabled, requiring human assistance for routine functions.

All canine adoptions include the following procedures unless previously documented as having been performed:
  • Adoption packet
  • Bordatella vaccine
  • Distemper vaccine
  • Heartworm vaccine
  • Microchip ID - includes lifetime registration with Home Again
  • Rabies vaccine
  • Spay or neuter procedure
All feline adoptions include the following procedures unless previously documented as having been performed:
  • Adoption packet
  • Distemper vaccine
  • Feline leukemia/FIV test
  • Microchip ID - includes lifetime registration with Home Again
  • Rabies vaccine
  • Spay or neuter procedure
Relinquishing Your Pet - Rules & Fees
Cape May County residents only may relinquish animals. Please call for an appointment. You must complete a questionnaire with a staff member so your pet can be placed in the most appropriate home. Bring all vet records with you.

  • Canine altered - $50
  • Canine unaltered - $75
  • Feline altered - $35
  • Feline unaltered - $50

Impoundment Fees
  • Canine or Feline - $45 administrative fee plus $4 per day for first 7 days (each day thereafter $10 per day)
  • Animals reclaimed by owners after animal control officer disposition or owner relinquishment
Quarantine Following Reported Dog/Cat Bite
  • $150 for 10 day quarantine
  • Bite must be reported to the Cape May County Health Department
Microchip ID Procedure
  • Canine or Feline - $15
  • Includes lifetime registration with Home Again and at the Cape May County Animal Shelter and Adoption Center. Call for appointment

The Cape May County Animal Shelter will seek to ensure the humane treatment of all animals within the county and to foster a spirit of cooperation between the various animal advocacy organizations.
