The new graduates of the Cape May County Sheriff's Bloodhound Academy Class #3 are ready to hit the streets after completing twelve weeks of training with instructors Sergeant Russell Norcross, Sergeant Beth Perednas and Officer Randy Mistic at the Cape May County Sheriff's Office K-9 Training Compound.
The graduates are K9 Memphis and handler Sergeant Darrell Meyers of the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office and K9 Forrest and handler Investigator Justin Bursztyn of the Hudson County Sheriff's Office.
This Bloodhound Academy was conducted by the Cape May County Sheriff's Office in cooperation with the National Police Bloodhound Association and the Cape May County Police Academy. Curriculum included basic man trailing, scent articles, trail work, report writing, criminal laws, first- aid for K-9's, mental illness awareness, critical incident stress management, SWAT / tactical training and trailing and K-9 deployment.
