Docent Program

peg

"Docent" comes from the Latin word "Docere" meaning "to teach".  Help us inspire people young and old to respect, value and care for the natural world through animals, classes, camps, education stations, guided tours, special events, and adult lectures.

Education docents are committed individuals who help educate and inspire the public with the use of various bio-facts and ambassador animals. Examples of work performed by our education docents include:

  • educating visitors in the zoo.
  • answering general visitor questions
  • crowd control
  • assisting with or facilitating guided zoo tours
  • assisting with educational programs
  • enrichment projects (minor building, painting, crafts, etc.)
  • assisting with special events
  • handling of select ambassador animals for educational events.
