Seasonal Animal Keeper
The Cape May County Zoo has openings for Seasonal Animal Keepers 40 HRS/Week for a 6 month duration. Preference will be given to Cape May County Residents. Duties include all related Keeper duties, Cleaning, Feeding, Observation, Minor Maintenance, and other duties performed by our Keeper Staff.

Summer Zoo Camp Counselor 2023
The Cape May County Zoo is seeking individuals with a passion for animals and education to fill the position of “Summer Zoo Camp Counselor”. Under supervision of the Education Staff these individuals will be responsible for our Summer Zoo Camp program which includes delivering engaging lessons and presentations, supervising campers at all times, leading and organizing games, arts and crafts, handling and presenting ambassador animals, engaging the public with educational presentations, and leading campers through the zoo while adhering to zoo protocol.
Zoo Camp Counselors are an integral part of the Education Department. This department is a fast-paced place to be, we are a fun, upbeat, supportive, charismatic team and are looking for 4 summer team members to bring our camp’s energy to the next level.
Qualifications:
- Must be 18 or older.
- Excellent public speaking and communication
- Experience working with children is preferred.
- Experience working with animals is preferred.
- Ability to stand or remain standing for a 6-hour shift.
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
- Preferably working toward, or have a bachelor’s degree in Zoology, Early Childhood Education, Psychology, Conservation Education, Wildlife Conservation, Wildlife Biology, Zoo Science, or related field.
- Excellent creative thinking and originality.
- Excellent decision-making abilities.
- Excellent teamwork skills.
All applicants must pass a drug and background check with the county prior to employment. This position is $15/hour, 40 hours/week Monday-Friday (8:30am – 4:30pm). Weekends OFF. This position is a SEASONAL/SUMMER ONLY position (early June – August 17).

6-Month Seasonal Education Keeper
The Cape May County Park & Zoo Education Department is seeking an individual who is motivated, has great people skills, a passion for educating, and an up-beat personality to fill a Seasonal Education Keeper position. This employee, under the supervision of the Education Director will work alongside the education staff to present educational programs, conduct animal encounters with the public, guide tour groups through the zoo, assist with camps and outreach programs, assist in animal husbandry and animal training, create and implement animal enrichment, and assist with developing new curricula.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Zoology, Wildlife Biology, Conservation Education, Zoo Science, Education, or related field.
- Animal care experience, preferably at an AZA facility.
- Childcare experience.
- Excellent public speaking, communication skills, creative thinking, and originality.
- Excellent decision-making skills.
- Ability to handle and present ambassador animals in a safe, dignified manner.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week, including weekends and holidays.
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions and can lift at least 50 pounds.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Additional Comments:
This position is for 40 hours a week and is SEASONAL; it will be 6-months employment from your start date. Preference is given to applicants with a Cape May County address.
The candidate we are looking for must possess all the qualifications listed above as well as the ability to work independently and with a team, a passion for education, and mindset to achieve larger goals for the Education Department. This department is FUN and FAST paced! We consist of 4 full time staff members, and our team of approximately 30 ambassador animals ranging from toads to wallabies. We are an upbeat, supportive, charismatic team, and are looking for an applicant that will help us grow.
Due to the nature of this position, you must have a flexible schedule.

Park Maintenance
Positions: Grounds Maintenance, Restroom Attendants and, Booth Attendants
Park Maintenance is crucial in the day-to-day operations of the Park and Zoo. We will be hiring suitable and reliable individuals that will be responsible for; grounds keeping, pavilion clean up, light repair work, restroom maintenance and equipment operating. Applicants must be able to lift 50 pounds. Part-time and Seasonal positions available. Looking for grounds keeping experience.
